Welcome
Welcome to our website which we hope that you find of interest.
The Lodge was consecrated at the School on 6th April 1963, after many years of planning. From the outset, membership was open to Old Boys, Masters and Governors of the School. Some 15 years ago, membership was opened to include fathers and grandfathers of pupils of the school. The current membership of the Lodge is 45 of whom 30 are Old Boys. We meet at the Masonic Hall in Pocklington on the first Saturday in March, May, October and November, commencing at 6.00pm. The Installation of the new Master for the coming year is held on the first Saturday of April, commencing at 4.00pm (although this would be deferred by one week to avoid Easter Saturday)
Although we take a serious approach to the ceremonies, our aim is to have an enjoyable evening, particularly at the meal which follows the meeting. Visitors are always made very welcome and some even become good friends. Indeed, one of our members joined after visiting regularly over a period of 16 years!
The Lodge is a member of the Federation of School Lodges which holds an Annual Festival, hosted by one of the 180 member Lodges at their old School. In 1983 the Old Pocklingtonian Lodge hosted the Festival, which was attended by about 300 brethren from round the country. This was held at the School, with the Lodge Meeting held in the Assembly Hall and the Festival Banquet in the School Sports Hall, originally the town railway station.
There are two regular Social Events – a Lunch on the second Sunday in January as well as a Ladies' Night, held as decided by the current Master of the Lodge. Other events are held as the Master chooses.
